Building a portable multi-cam 16-track audio/video live recording rig Part 2

Continuing right along with my portable A/V recording rig quest, I have gotten over my imported mini-cam fetish and just bit the financial bullet and am going with much higher quality DSLRs for the whole rig. Also I’m thinking about some redesigns for the box. I’m planning on investing in a CNC machine for another venture but I don’t think the time is there for me to order it, build it, learn it, and produce any quality work in time to cut up the box with it before the Las Vegas Deathfest so no fancy routing for the moment. Decisions, decisions… budgets, budgets… going way over budget… you get the idea. Building a portable multi-cam 16-track audio/video live recording rig Part 1

I’ve been acquiring a bunch of audio video gear over the years… actually I buy very little and research the hell out of things and subsequently sit on the fence after I’ve got it down to two choices or worse I narrow it down to one but the price isn’t like what I saw it for on that sale I missed. You get the idea. It didn’t really hit me how bad I am with this purchasing procrastination until I saw my behavior mocked by a couple of puppets on some tech dude’s YouTube channel. I felt it was time for a reevaluation of self and perhaps time to finish building out that live rig I’ve not only dreamed of building but that I actually need for a couple of events coming up including the Las Vegas Deathfest and young Rhaina’s live performance at the D with the School of Rock kids.  Continue reading Building a portable multi-cam 16-track audio/video live recording rig Part 1

Journey Back East March 2016 Part 3

Well, the house was cleaned out, cleaned up, and ready for liquidation at this point. I got to visit with some fun peeps that I love and hadn’t seen in a while. Now the only thing left to do was to begin the long trek home. I was not flying out until Tuesday but decided to head back to New York on Monday so as to give myself enough time to wrap a few things up and make a few more stops for some quick visits with my cousin Mary Ann in Yonkers and my cousin Chris and his family up near Mahopac.  Continue reading Journey Back East March 2016 Part 3

Journey Back East March 2016 Part 2

After a very long 48 hours travelling from Las Vegas via plane to JFK in New York, to Grand Central by shuttle buss, to Tuckahoe by train, to Yonkers on foot, and finally to Mt Pocono in Pennsylvania by van I was ready for a good night’s sleep! I grabbed a few things from town to get me through the morning like coffee and some chow and I colapsed in my bed for a few hours… only to be awoken really early by the septic guy that was coming that day who was about an hour early. Journey Back East March 2016 Part 1

I’ve owned a nice little house in the Poconos back in Pennsylvania since around 1998. It’s a 5 bedroom mother daughter layout house, a little under 2000 sq ft, tucked away on a 3/4 acre lot in Mt. Pocono. I had been renting the downstairs half of the house to an old couple that just sat around drinking all day collecting whatever they collected from whatever. I booted them after a bunch of late, light payments a few years ago. The house sat empty for years until I went there last year (2015) to grab a few things and pit stop on the way to Las Vegas. I was appalled at the disgusting mess my tenants left and knew I’d eventually have to deal with it. It has now been one year almost exactly and time to return, clear it out and try to liquidate the property.  Continue reading Journey Back East March 2016 Part 1

Mortician imagery ripped off again but with a twist this time…

This. This is what it all comes down to. You work hard in a rewardless scene for decades making little to no money, bootlegged to no end, copied and poorly replicated by many for it to come down to this. I can handle all of that. It’s the nature of “influence” in the music scene, we play what we like and listen to. But THIS is friggin’ horseshit. Fashion company Avalone premiered their new  Fall/Winter Collection of Dark sportswear inspired by ’90s death metal bands. Anyone notice any similarities here? Lucky Day at The Orleans in Las Vegas, NV

Let’s dip into the mentality of the compulsive gambler for a moment shall we. Just kidding, sort of. Now I’m not a hardcore gambler per se, but I’ll play some comp dollars and a few of my own once a week. For me and my lady it’s our weekly Thursday or Friday daytime date. Nothing beats free money, free buffets (or buy one get one at least), and the potential to walk away with a few hundred.
